Concussions

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Once again the Sunapee School District will be using the services of Concord Hospital and the Impact Baseline Concussion test. This test is a pre-test, and in the event of any head injury, this tool can be used to help physicians determine when it is safe for students to return to practice and competition.

We are requiring that all athletes take the Impact Baseline test. This test will be administered at Sunapee Middle High School by professionals from Concord Hospital. The test is taken on a computer, and will typically take between twenty and forty five minutes to complete. The school district will be paying for the test, so there is no cost to the students. We are currently working with Concord Hospital to pick a time and date to perform the testing and we should have confirmed dates by the end of next week. Information regarding privacy and consent forms for the test are below. Students who took the test last year do not have to take the test again this year. The Impact test is good for two years.

Incoming 6th graders and students who did not take the test last year are encouraged to take the test. Students who are taking the test should fill out the questionnaire and the test authorization forms.

Last year our school went to the final four in every traditional team sport that the school offers, and had numerous students receive all-state and all academic recognition. We look forward to another year of working hard to achieve success both on and off the athletic fields.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the school, or via email.

Sincerely,

Tom Frederick
